Terms and Conditions

Please be aware that all course dates, locations, and prices are subject to change. Check the website details often for any changes or updates.

Course Registration:

Please refer to the course detail page for exact dates and times related to the specific course you are interested in. For all ASI courses, students must register at least two weeks before the class begins, to allow time for processing and shipping of all course materials. For enrollment done less than two weeks prior to the start of a course, participation will be subject to shipping times.

Booking Terms & Conditions for ASI Classes or Exams

Your place is not confirmed in any class and your study materials will not be sent until full payment has been received. This includes international students with extra shipping costs.

We work with our students to ensure they are aware of all dates, but please mark your calendars with all relevant dates/times. Let us know as early as possible if you are unable to make a date for any reason.

If you book a class past the registration deadline, you will be placed in the next available class.

ASI reserves the right either to change the date of a course or cancel a course if the minimum required number of students is not reached. Alternative dates will be notified 14 days prior to the planned start date of the original course. Any enrollment fee that was paid by the student will be transferred to the new course with no additional charge. In cases where the new date is unviable for the student, a second option will be given.

No student is allowed to sit the examination without having attended the related course and cannot continue to the next Level without passing the exam. There may be an additional cost for exam retakes.

Course participation

Even though the classes are conducted online, the experience is akin to a traditional classroom setting. Your active participation, especially in the tasting component, is essential for successfully completing the course and obtaining your certification. Students may NOT use the ASI suffixes (Mezcal Specialist, Sommelier etc) before passing the relevant exam.

Missed Classes or Exams

The Agave Spirits Institute does not refund or credit for missed classes or examination assessments. Every effort is made to communicate this information ahead, but it is the candidate's responsibility to read and understand all relevant dates and times, including time-zone differences, for any and all courses and exams, online or in-person.

The student must read and understand the policies regarding courses. If there is a question regarding any course detail, please ask before booking.

On occasion, the Agave Spirits Institute will offer a course or seminar for which the above policies do not apply. In those instances, the registration page for the class or course will reflect the modified policy for that specific event.

Extenuating Circumstances

If there is an event that causes the student to miss a course due extenuating circumstances (ie: medical issues, death of a friend or family member, power failure, etc.) the student must document the event and submit notice to ASI within 5 days of the original course date. This request and documentation will be submitted to ASI for approval. Failure to submit sufficient documentation and a request for extenuating circumstances outside of the five day period will result in the student being marked as absent and a rescheduling fee will be required for rebooking the course.

In the event of non-attendance due to extenuating circumstances, ASI will make every attempt to reschedule the student to another date. Students will not incur any additional fees for such an event, but ASI is not responsible for any travel or other expenses.

Cancellation, Refunds & Rescheduling Policies:

ASI retains the right to determine the amount, if any, of all course refunds and/or course credits.

For online courses, no refunds will be given unless done at the discretion of ASI and all study materials must be returned in perfect condition. For in person courses, there will be a strict cancellation deadline, and any refunds given will exclude the cost of prepared study materials that cannot be used for another student. Shipping fees are not refundable, and any return shipping fees will be deducted from the amount of the refund.

Shipping

Anything shipped by the Agave Spirits Institute is the responsibility of the receiver. All materials will be shipped by ASI using a trackable method. Once delivery is confirmed to the address given it is the receivers responsibility to ensure that it gets safely to them from the point of delivery. Any refunds on course materials will be less the associated postage and handling fees.

Students based outside of the continental United States should be aware that additional charges will be applied for shipping of materials and / or certificates and pins. The cost of these charges should be discussed prior to enrollment to confirm the amount and that all parties are in agreement of the additional fees.

Shipping fees will include the full amount of the postage or handling charges due to the carrier, as well as any service or fee charges related to the cost of the shipping.

The Agave Spirits Institute does reserve the right to refund or cancel the enrollment of any student if there is no prior agreement to any additional shipping charges before the enrollment deadline.

Due to the nature of international shipping and customs regulations, we cannot control the wait time for delivery so we encourage early enrollment for those outside of Mexico and the US.
